Pamper your Skin

Skin is alive. It breathes, absorbs and it is permeable.
Your skin is the largest organ and it is constantly at work, helping to rid your system of toxins,
keeping our body temperature constant and aiding in our regeneration process. In order to keep
your skin in optimum health, it deserves to be pampered, protected and preened.
Our skin produces a natural oily coating called sebum, working as our biological protection from the elements. As well, sebum helps to keep the pH of our skin balanced. Sebum production is also a factor in the determination of ones skin type – dry, normal/balanced, combination or oily. Skin types vary, depending on several factors which include genetics, to the amount of water that is retained by the skin, age; and as mentioned, its level of sebum production. In addition to these contributors, we must also factor in stress caused due to the environment, health related issues and yes, you guessed it, the products used daily. When combined disproportionately, these factors can further cause imbalance, infection and/or, irritation to your skin.
In order to offset or avoid these circumstances, you can invest in the health of your skin, by first and foremost, a proper diet and an ample intake of water. Simply start, by carrying a water bottle with you wherever your travels take you. You can go one step further by adding a slice of your favourite fruit for 30 minutes prior to drinking. The essence of the fruit will be infused, thus helping to make the water more palatable; and before you know it your body and skin will thank you.
Secondly, there is something to be said about exercise and the health of ones skin. If Jazzercise, Aerobics and Step Dancing were never your cup of tea, then chances are neither will Dancercize, Pilates or Tae Bo. Get out and breathe. Take in nature’s splendour once the plants are in full bloom or after the leaves have changed colours. Go for a walk, hike and or just ride your bike. If you are surrounded by snow, help your children or grandchildren to make a snowman. Exercise does not have to be strenuous, but, it should be fun.
In addition, it has been reported that natural Vitamin D from the sun, when enjoyed in good measure with natural protection, can enhance ones glow and radiance. Lastly, indulge your skin. Allow it to breath by using naturally derived products and cleansers. Occasionally exfoliate, with a rich organic based body scrub. Then moisturize with the healing properties of botanical extracts, exotic butters and the calming effects of essential oils. HoneyFig offers a wide array of skin care products to fit your lifestyle and your budget. Go ahead and treat yourself with some affordable luxuries. Your skin deserves it.
When it comes to your most impressionable organ, pamper it, protect it and be proud!
