May 2007

Marvelous May!
May is always a welcomed sight.
With spring in full bloom and warmer days ahead, you cannot help, but to start thinking about backyard entertaining, your day(s) at the beach and the right look and style that will accompany you to these events. More about that later; right now let us live in the moment and enjoy May.
Let us celebrate May, not only for our Mothers; regardless if she is biological, adoptive, or of surrogate legacy. She definitely deserves the honor, of more than just one day. May, is not only for the flowers that we look forward to planting this season; for those of us that have not already done so, due to climate conditions. May, is not just about the start of the series of long weekends, which will extend into and throughout the summer months. May is about spending some well deserved time with – you.
This “time” should be spent in solitude, away from the distractions of work, errands and definitely away from interacting with, or reading the media … yes, that includes the internet. Also, you will benefit considerably more, if during your “time”, you refrain from shopping, cleaning and/or taking the children, to one of the many activities which they might be involved in; at this time of the year. Twenty minutes during soccer practice does not qualify.
This is not an act of being selfish; it is an act of being. It is about getting to know you and by doing so – growing. Go on, take yourself out for lunch, delight yourself in a “mochalicious” coffee treat and/or go for an afternoon picnic in the park. This is your time to indulge in your thoughts; enjoy it well.
We assure you, you will learn something new.
HoneyFig welcomes Long Lovely Locks
Long Lovely Locks was developed by a beautiful sister by the name of Kechi. She developed the line to resolve an issue with her own hair; which at the time was uneven, thin and badly damaged. Kechi took matters into her own hands (literally), by developing an array of natural products to offset the drying effects caused by traditional hair care products. The result speaks volume, as her hair, along with many happy customers, continues to thrive.
After sampling and testing out the Long Lovely Locks products, we decided that this line certainly fits perfectly into our philosophy. The products are all natural, straight forward in its approach and works well to leave your hair feeling healthy and moisturized.
Counting your Blessings!
In our giving back this month, we are shaking up things a tad. While others zig, we zag.
This month, we are otherwise focusing on the many deserving women, whom seek empowerment and their rightful place in this world. Although we hold this important cause, in high esteem, we would like to pay it forward, to the children of those who have lost their mothers to in the fight against AIDS. This month HoneyFig would like to shed light on the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
Stephen Lewis has worked tirelessly for years, to do whatever is possible, to bring an end to this plight; which has directly affected over half of the population on the continent of Africa. Before it was considered “Celebratized” to take on this noble cause, the Stephen Lewis Foundation has campaigned for change, for proper medication and for worldwide awareness. Their work is not in vain.
We would like to pledge 10% of each dollar earned from sales this month to benefit the children, who can no longer say Happy Mother’s Day. Going one step farther, we would like to tie in with the launch of Long Lovely Locks, by contributing $1 from each Long Lovely Locks products sold in May to the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
Thank you for your help, in making a difference.

This month SPU comes from Anita in Granville, MA. Anita writes…
Hi HoneyFig,
I love you style. I have been looking for a site like yours, where I can buy multiple items (not necessarily all from one company); and where I can find out exactly, what it is that I am buying. Keep going and growing.
I have a suggestion for a product that I use and it is the Nyakio Lemon Rind and Sugar Body Scrub. This is by far the best body scrub that I have ever tried and I am a “scrub junkie”. Yes, it is pricey, but, it is worth every penny. Anyways, I have very dry hands and feet as I am a nurse and an avid gardener. At least once every other week when I give myself a manicure/pedicure, I rub the Nyakio scrub on my feet, cover them with Saran Wrap and put on socks. Then I rub some on my hands; put on plastic gloves and go about my house work. I think that it is the combination of the heat and all the beautiful ingredients in the scrub that makes my hands and feet feel baby soft afterwards. I hope that this might help some one else.
As I said, keep going and growing.
Blessings!
Anita

Thank you, Anita. Please continue to enjoy your products, as we look forward to offering you and others superb products and services.
Continued success;
The HoneyFig Team
