Band AIDS Month
February holds a lot of significance for all of us. For us here as HoneyFig, its importance comes not by way of Valentines Day, Presidents Day, Family Day or even Black History Month. Not that we do not consider these noteworthy days or events; but, more so that we wish to support a more prevalent need.
Our pledge this month is to diminish the ravishing effects of “aids”, from the lives of those affected. Our focus is to encourage those individuals, especially women and children whom have been demoralized and disempowered by the AIDS virus – to recapture their “ari”; a Swahili word for “enthusiasm, joyful eagerness, spirit, zeal, zest”. These too are the robbing effects for this virus.
This February, let us turn away from our own insignificant complaints, of “Hollywood hoopla”, and “Baby brats’ blunders”. Let us in turn, help to disseminate hope and joy in the hearts of those who need it most. For every sales dollar earned this month, HoneyFig pledges 10% to The Stephen Lewis Foundation; and more specifically for their work with the Grassroots movement. We can, by way of The Stephen Lewis Foundation, bring to the hearts of women and children a renewal in knowing, that despite the presence of AIDS, as a result of gender inequality, that their lives do have value.
